Bittersweet 11

Mayed wasn't there yet.
But standing right at the entrance of our school looking completely mt'6ayg was Rashid. Tall
dark handsome Rashid.
I pretended I didn’t see him and walked straight past him.

"Hold it." I heard from behind me. My heart skipped a beat at the sound of his voice. I stopped,
then took one more step forward.
"Noora!" He called. I spun around to find him standing a few inches in front of me. I looked up
into his gorgeous eyes.
Honey colored, as I recalled. We didn’t say anything for a while. We just stood there. Finally, I
spoke.
"Yes?" I finally blinked.
He let out a long breath, and rubbed his eyes, and put his hands on his hips.
Shu balah?
"Stop looking at me like that!" He finally said. Actually he more like loudly whispered it.
"Like what?" I asked.
"Uff mashay!" He said, and rolling his eyes. Okay seriously what is wrong with hal ensan?
I gave him a what's-your-problem look. He immediately understood and answered;
"I just had breakfast with your brother."
"Adri." I said, coldly.
"You're engaged?!" He finally blurted out. So that’s what this is all about! I bet my brother told
him about my engagement at breakfast.
I nodded, answering his question.
"Since when?!" He roared. Okay seriously shu y59k?
"Couple of weeks now, I guess."
"Magltee!"
"Why should I?"

Silence.

"OMG Rashid?!" A girlish voice interrupted our 'moment'. I could see Rashid's eyes widen.
I couldn’t tell, of disappointment, or excitement.
"Hey Salama." He greeted her.
"7abeeby I didn’t know you were back! Laish maglt shay! Was it a surprise? Oh my gosh you
are so sweet! Where are you taking me?" Salama disgustingly said as she twirled a lock of her
hair around her finger.
"Uhh.." Obviously he didn’t have an answer.
"5ala9 I don’t want to know! Make it a surprise a7san!" She giggled, and tugged on his arm, to
let him know that they should leave.
But Rashid didn’t move. He just stood there. Not even looking at Salama. His eyes were still
focused on mine.
"Rashid Shfeek?" Salama angrily stepped in front of me, where Rashid could see her.
"Nothing." Rashid finally replied. "I'm sorry, I'm kind of jetlagged, masma3tch."
Salama's face turned redder than her lips. I should probably leave now before anything more
awkward happens.
Thank god I spotted Mayed's white Lamborghini pull up.

Rashid still kept his eyes on me, and watched along with all the other girls, as Mayed stepped
out of his car to escort
me to the passenger seat.
We finally drove off, and from the rearview mirror, I could see Rashid still standing when I left him.

Still staring in disbelief.
